Shorter Name. Newer Look. Extra Content.
Hello everyone! Evan here. We want to announce that Off Shelf Book Reviews is going through some small changes with its brand. We have represented this platform as a way of exploring faith based books to inspire and point people to Jesus. Yet our name has not always been an accurate representation of that mission. This is not so much a name change as it is a shorter and simpler name. This is also not so much a logo change as it is an update to its look.
So what exactly did we do? The biggest change as you can see is that we removed the word ‘reviews’ from our name. We then pluralized the word ‘book’ to say “Off Shelf Books”
The next change is that we changed the fonts for both the name and subtitle. The old logo used two different fonts. We wanted to unify our logo to one font. As much as I liked the old fonts, something did not feel right about it. It felt busy and cramped. The hope is that the font change will allow the logo to breath and feel more open.
Another change is that we removed the upper case capitalization of its letters. This was a difficult choice as there can be a nice appeal to titles being all uppercase. But we decided to have the logo feel smaller and simpler.
We also made some minor aesthetic changes to the subtitle. We altered the spacing and lined it up better with the name.
So why the re-brand?
We did not want this platform to only be about book reviews. By nature, our old name stated that we do book reviews. But we have always wanted to go beyond that. It has been more about our subtitle, “exploring faith based books”. This is what has made our brand and content different. We are not another book review outlet. We take an in depth look at these books and authors. Simply put: It’s not about reviewing books; It’s about exploring them. This is where we felt our name was not accurate and limited us. With a shorter and simpler name, this gives us the opportunity to discover new ways to develop content that will still explore faith based books, but not limit us to one category. What that will be, I am not sure. What I do know is that we now have more possibilities.
Also a shorter name kind of makes it easier to pronounce. While I personally never had any challenges pronouncing the old name, to have one less word and two less syllables does make a difference. This also reflects the exact name of our website address titled offshelfbooks.com.
While the format of these videos will not change, You will notice a fresh update of its graphics. We also have removed the introduction music that has been with our videos at the very beginning.
Don’t worry though, Off Shelf Books will continue to create the same content that you have come to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who continues to enjoy this content and we look forward to exploring more faith based books with you.
