I have been reminded of the comfort we all have in knowing that God is still ultimately in control of every aspect of our lives. Nothing fools God. Nothing catches Him by surprise.

Even during the times we are sick or injured, God was already aware in advance that was going to happen to us. Whenever I got sick or injured, God was not like, “Oh sorry Evan. I was so busy with other people that I did not have enough time to protect you”. Of course not! God knew that was going to happen to me. He is control of ever single situation of our lives.

I even look back at 2010 when Haiti was hit by the earthquake; Its not like that caught God by surprise. God was not like, “Oh sorry Haiti, I was so busy dealing with Iraq, being distracted with Afghanistan, and several other countries, that I totally forgot that an earthquake was going to happen to you.” Of course not! God was never surprised or fooled. He knew that was going to happen to Haiti. Even when the earthquake does not make sense to so many people, God knows why it happened, and He knows what he is doing. He is in control.

2 Corinthians 4:7-12 describes how we are these fragile jars of clay to show the excellence of God’s power and not our own. When we are hard pressed on every side, we are not crushed. Perplexed, but not in despair. Persecuted, but not forsaken. Struck down, but not destroyed. It serves as a reminder of God’s redemptive power, even in our fragile state. I love the wealth of hope that is derived from this scripture alone. So much power behind it.

We are all going to endure very difficult hardships in this world; But no matter how many challenges we face; No matter how broken this world becomes, I just love the fact that God is ultimately & always will be in control. So we know we are cared for, because we have a Father that loves us, that will never leave us or forsake us. He is always watching over us. Which is all the more reason for us to be joyful in all circumstances.
